Rule for Construction
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America's workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. The rule is comprised of two standards, one for Construction and one for General Industry and Maritime.

What does the standard require?
The standard requires employers to limit worker exposures to respirable crystalline silica and to take other steps to protect workers. Employers must protect workers from respirable crystalline silica exposures above the permissible exposure limit averaged over an eight-hour day. When are employers required to comply with the standard? Construction employers must comply with all requirements of the standard by June 23, 2017.

Phipps offers a range of dust and air control construction equipment that meets OSHA's new standard. Please see below.

Concrete Cutting
Solutions to eliminate dust when cutting concrete. Choose from wet or dry handheld and walk behind saws. Battery powered water tanks available for portability.

Grinding and Tuckpointing
Dust shroud attachments for use on vertical or horizontal surfaces. Designed for use with Metabo or Dewalt Power Tools.

Cutting and Drilling
Dust extracting accessories that form a secure locking connection for drilling and chipping. Complete core drilling system for a variety of drilling applications. Capable of drilling reinforced concrete and brick up to 14” in diameter.

Vapor Abrasive Blasting
Vapor abrasive blasting removes coatings, contaminants, corrosion and residues from hard surfaces. Similar to dry blasting, except that the blast media is moistened prior to impacting the surface. Eliminates up to 92% of airborne dust while only using 10 gallons of water per hour of blasting.

HEPA Solutions
Vacuums
Certified HEPA vacuums trap fine dust particles and feature filter cleaning systems to maintain airflow while complying with OSHA Table 1 requirements.

Air Scrubbers
HEPA Air Scrubbers used for hospital construction and renovation, dust containment, mold and mildew remediation, odor mitigation, and asbestos abatement projects.
