In the winter of 2012 a problem was discovered on the second floor of a high school. The concrete surface of all the rooms and hallways had numerous cracks and was in need of repair. Brian Van Atta of M-A Building & Maintenance Company and a Sika Corp representative met with the building owners and put a system in place to repair the floors.

First step was the application of Sikadur 55 SLV, which was used to flood the cracks. After all the cracks were initially filled, a second pass of concrete epoxy sealer was squeegeed over the entire area and sand was broadcast to receive the next layer of material.

A base coat of Miracote Membrane A was then applied, followed by a coat of Miracote MPC. An anti-fracture fabric was troweled into that base coat. Once those steps were completed, a second/finish coat of MPC was applied and smoothed to receive the adhesives for the final flooring products.

By using the resources of the Chas E.Phipps Co. and their network of manufacturers, a solution was designed and very well executed in a time sensitive situation.
