Hydronic Heat Helps Beaver Constructors Bounce Back at Tallmadge Athletic Complex

“Now we know…and knowing is half the battle”
For those of you who, like me, grew up on Saturday morning cartoons like GI Joe, the phrase probably brings a nostalgic smile to your face. For those who didn't, you may have run into it as a comical meme. The one-off moral lessons tacked on to each episode of GI Joe (and endorsed by the National Child Safety Council) seemed like overkill to me even as a child.
So what in the world does all of this have to do with the Tallmadge Athletic Building? More than you would think.
The project may not be as large as some (roughly 12,000 sq ft), but in today's fast track construction environment there simply is no such thing as an easy job. Knowing this, Justin Leonhard, A.C., Project Manager at Beaver Constructors, Inc. started planning for the project last summer. With the job starting late fall, most of the critical finish stages would take place in the dead of winter. This meant planning for climate control, and Justin went with what he knew would work: hydronic heat. A true hydronic veteran, he had already used the system on three previous projects and understood how its benefits (fume-free work areas, dehumidification, etc.) help the finish process stay on track.
Like most stories, there had to be a twist along the way.
A brutally cold and windy January proved to be enough to delay construction. The roofing was hit especially hard by weather delays and, without a full roof, it was impossible to heat the structure. When the weather finally broke Beaver closed in the building and began heating. Now the primary benefit of hydronic heat could shine: avoiding delays and accelerating the finish schedule. Now the system is helping Justin make up for lost time just as he knew it would...and knowing is half the battle.
Thank you Justin and the Beaver Constructors Tallmadge Team for including us in this project. We love to see the hydronic system help your process.
