Product Description

SikaEmaco 488 CI (formerly MasterEmaco S 488 CI) is a one-component, silica-fume-modified, fiber-reinforced structural repair mortar with an integral corrosion inhibitor. It is designed for vertical and overhead applications and can be applied either by low-pressure spray or by hand trowel, requiring only the addition of potable water.

This mortar bonds tenaciously to concrete, masonry, or brick substrates without the need for an additional bonding agent. It provides high early and ultimate compressive, flexural, and bond strengths, while maintaining low chloride permeability and shrinkage-compensated properties — ideal for aggressive service environments such as marine structures, sewer systems, lift-stations, and water-treatment facilities.

Benefits

  • Sprayable or trowel-applied — suitable for vertical and overhead repairs
  • Integral corrosion inhibitor and fiber reinforcement for long-term rebar protection and structural durability
  • Shrinkage-compensated and low-permeability — resists chloride ingress, sulfate attack, and environmental exposure
  • One-component formulation: just add water — no mixing with epoxy or bonding agents required
  • Sulfate-resistant, freeze/thaw durable — holds up in harsh, wet, or aggressive environments
  • NSF/ANSI 61 certified — suitable for potable water contact applications when product bears NSF mark :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}

Applications

  • Vertical and overhead structural concrete and masonry repairs
  • Marine environments, wastewater facilities, lift-stations, and other chloride/sulfate-exposed areas
  • Substrate repair on concrete, masonry, or brick — interior or exterior
  • Projects requiring corrosion resistance, low permeability, and long-term durability under aggressive conditions
